Cremona

The first real meeting was organised in Cremona in October 1988 by a larger group who laid the foundations for the association's current activities. The first Board of the Association was composed as follows: president Pierre Taconné, vice-president Antonio Capela, secretary Gio Batta Morassi and tresorer Karl Roy In March 1989 there was a reunion in Mittenwald, mainly dedicated to the phrasing of the aims of the Association as well as a first exchange of ideas about statute and internal regulations.

The aims of the A.E.L., as later on put down in the statute, are:

firstly to promote the art of violin making as a European cultural wealth,

  • secondly to offer to the European violin makers a platform on which they can exchange their opinions and experiences, and,
  • thirdly, to maintain contact and links with other national and international associations.
